Preventative Care

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital recommends yearly wellness exams for pets under 7. We tailor a vaccination program to each pets lifestyle. If your pet is a senior (8 or older) we recommend a wellness/geriatric exam every 6 months, as this can lead to earlier diagnosis of problems associated with aging and allow for treatment sooner.

We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard, and on your pet.

It is recommended your pet stay on heartworm prevention year round. Once a year heartworm testing is also recommended. Applying flea prevention during the months of March thru November will help prevent infestation and rid your pet of these annoying parasites.

We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance, and performance. At Red Bank Veterinary Hospital we offer a variety of Prescription diets including Hill's, Royal Canin, and IVD prescription diets.

Grooming

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital offers Professional Grooming Services Monday through Saturday by appointment. It is recommended that a regular grooming schedule be started during puppyhood/kittenhood, and to maintain it throughout your pets life.

Your pet will love being groomed at RBVH by our groomer, Elethia Burton. Elthia is a graduate of the Academy of Dog Grooming in Chicago IL and can professionally style all breeds of dogs and cats. Elethia will be happy to personally go over the specifics of what style cut you desire, and any other services you would like for your pet.

Dentistry

Our dental services include complete dental cleanings and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions, periodontal disease treatments, and oral surgery.

Screening tests for glaucoma, cataracts, tear production, ulcers, and injuries are routine for us, using schirmer tear testing, fluorescein eye staining, and tonomotry. When necessary consultation or referral to a board-certified opthamologist is available.

Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory provides for pre-surgical screens, parasite testing, urinalysis, blood glucose curves, fungal cultures, and cytology. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

Radiology: Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders. In addition to standard films, contrast studies and OFA films are available.

Our surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures, including spays, neuters, growth removals, and exploratory surgery. Pain medications are administered prior to surgery and sent home in most cases to reduce post-op pain. Patients are closely monitored using ECG and respiratory monitoring during surgery in a sterile controlled environment. A Certified Veterinary Technician, or veterinary nurse, monitors the surgery patient through out the procedure and during recovery.

Laparoscopy: The use of a laparascope can provide assistance for non-invasive surgical procedures and biopsies.

Video Otoscopy: A video otoscope is used to provide thorough enhanced ear exams, diagnosis, and surgery.

We provide Electrocardiography (ECG) services including on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.
